Edward Mungai is the current Chief Executive Officer at Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC). He is an author, founder and senior management executive. He has produced sustained revenue and socio-ecological capital for over 250 clean-tech enterprises in Kenya as part of his achievements in impact investments, Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Sustainability Research and Business Advisory. Prior to his work at KCIC, Edward worked as the Head of Regional Office (East and Central Africa) at Danish International Investment Fund (IFU) in Nairobi. He also served as the Investment Manager at IFU in Copenhagen. He is a former Manager in Corporate Finance at KPMG East Africa. Edward is currently undertaking a PhD in Business Management on Environmental Sustainability at Strathmore University Business School, Kenya. He holds an Executive MBA, Business Administration and Management from Scandinavian International Management Institute in Denmark, a BBM in Accounting and Finance from Moi University in Kenya and he is a Chartered Finance Analyst Level II from CFA Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia USA. Among his list of awards includes being a Six Star Major World Marathoner, was Voted as top 40 under 40 people creating sustainable impact in Kenya, awarded by CBS-SIMI as one of the best strategy projects innovators in the MBA class of 2009-2010, voted among the top inspirational CEOs in Kenya in 2019 and appointed as a representative of DANIDA in the African Enterprise Challenge Fund Investment committee.
Edward is also an Eisenhower Fellow, a DANIDA Fellow and is the founder of Inspire Leadership. He is a keynote speaker on corporate sustainability and has spoken at various global summits around the world such as the Climate Change Conference in Bonn Germany 2017; International Trade Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development; World Economic Forum among others.
