Kenya Climate Ventures: Advancing Climate Adaptation, Entrepreneurship, and Global Dialogue from the Global South

In the evolving landscape of global climate resilience, a bold and necessary shift is underway, one that recognizes that some of the most transformative climate solutions are emerging not from boardrooms in the Global North, but from small and growing businesses in the frontier counties. At the forefront of this shift is Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV), a climate impact investment company catalyzing innovation and inclusive growth in gender inclusive climate smart enterprises.

With a firm focus on early and growth-stage climate-smart enterprises, KCV provides patient, blended capital and hands – on business support to entrepreneurs solving critical challenges across renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, waste and circularity, water, and commercial forestry. These enterprises are more than businesses, they are the beating heart of local climate adaptation in Kenya and increasingly, a model for regional and global replication.

KCV’s unique approach is increasingly being recognized on the global stage, not just for what it funds, but for the bold ideas, strategic vision, and systems-level insights it brings to the climate finance conversation.

In February 2025, KCV’s leadership took center stage at the AI Geneva Summit under the theme “Empowering the South 2030: Forging an AI Future of Inclusive Digital Sovereignty.” As one of Africa’s few local climate-focused gender-lens investors, KCV contributed thought leadership on how frontier AI technologies can be harnessed to enhance climate resilience in low-income, underserved markets. With over 800 global AI leaders and policymakers in attendance, KCV’s participation signalled a strong belief in the convergence of climate innovation and digital transformation.

This was followed by KCV’s active engagement in the P4G Hanoi Summit, a high – level convening hosted by the World Resources Institute, P4G and the Government of Vietnam, focused on unlocking capital for climate startups in emerging economies. As P4G and global partners explore new co – creation mechanisms for scaling green enterprise, KCV’s model of de – risking and enterprise support stood out as a best practice. Through its participation, KCV continues to shape discourse on climate investing and contribute to evolving global standards for financing adaptation-focused enterprises.

In 2024, KCV was honoured in the prestigious EUTECH SDG Awards, receiving recognition under SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. The award acknowledged KCV’s role in enabling over 4,900 decent jobs through its portfolio, while fostering systemic growth in climate-smart supply chains.

KCV has also been a consistent voice in shaping entrepreneurial ecosystems globally. At the ANDE Global Annual Conference in Bangkok, KCV engaged in dialogues on green value chains, gender-lens investing, and inclusive innovation. These conversations reflect KCV’s cross-cutting approach to climate finance, one that acknowledges that scaling impact requires collaboration across capital, culture, and capacity.

“At KCV, we believe that the future of climate finance must be shaped by those living the climate realities every day. Our role is not just to invest, it is to amplify the solutions, voices, and enterprises that are redefining climate resilience from the ground up with context orientation.” Victor Ndiege, Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Climate Ventures.

What distinguishes KCV is not just its presence at these global stages, but the lived expertise and track record it brings. With over 23 investments in climate -smart SMEs, more than US$19.9M in follow-on capital leveraged, and over 500,000 people impacted with enhanced adaptative capacity for climate resilience, KCV is a practitioner, a convener, and a thought leader.

As the world prepares for future summits on climate finance and inclusive growth, KCV is helping lead a new narrative, one where African enterprises are not just recipients of climate finance, but architects of climate solutions. By bridging local innovation with global dialogue, Kenya Climate Ventures is redefining what it means to build climate resilience from the ground up.
